El Bulli taking the piss?
I followed Tyler Cowen's link to a well blogged visit to El Bulli, probably the most famous restaurant in the world today. I'm sure the food is actually good - too many people say so to be wrong. But looking at the pictures, I just can't get away from the feeling that they're taking the piss, just a little bit. On the other hand, the restaurant does look beautiful.

I don't think that Ferran Adria is trying to trick the world, I believe that his heart is really into what he is doing. However, that been said, this whole molecular gastronomy concept doesn't appeal to me much. I'd love to try El Bulli of course but it doesn't tickle my fancy, it doesn't excite me. And you know what doesn't excite me? When I see a bunch of young-cockadoodle doos trying to imitate him with their cool tattoes and spiked hair. Drives me insane!
Slate is looking forward to the death of what Adria hath wrought.
